I just finished up teaching a four-day photography workshop in Williamsburg, Virginia with Deborah Sandidge. We got lucky and had amazing light on each of our photo shoots. On our last day, we returned to Colonial Williamsburg in the morning and we found this lovely house that looks like it came from a fairy tale.

One of the main themes of our workshop was encouraging participants to combine multiple filter/plug-in effects. Sometimes, it’s easy to forget that we have many tools available to us in our digital darkrooms that span multiple plug-ins. For example, while you can create a black and white image in HDR Efex Pro 2 or Color Efex Pro 4, why limit yourself to those tools if you can use the unique controls in Silver Efex Pro 2? I just finished up teaching a great hands-on class on HDR Efex Pro 2 at the Forney Museum of Transportation in Denver, Colorado. What was great about this class is that the museum offered us early access to the collection and permitted the use of tripods. That enabled us to get some really fun shots in fairly dark conditions.

Join me April 13th for a hands-on HDR workshop in Denver, CO.

Join me for a day of hands-on HDR photography at the Forney Transportation Museum in Denver, April 13th. I’ve teamed up with the good folks at Front Range Photography to arrange this class, limited to 20 photographers. We’ll have special tripod access before the museum opens to the public, so we can photograph the antique cars, motorcycles, and trains with the intent of capturing HDR images. After the shoot, we have a classroom set up where you’ll be able to download your images. I’ll then show you how to create stunning HDR tone-maps using Nik Software’s HDR Efex Pro 2.0 plug-in. I’ll also demonstrate finishing effects for HDR images with other plug-ins, like Color Efex Pro 4 and Silver Efex Pro 2.

To register for this class, please visit the Front Range Photography Meetup Page.
