I’m pleased to announce that Macphun has released a custom set of presets that I authored for their Mac image editing software, Luminar. The Insta Inspiration pack of presets gives Mac users a 1-click approach to matching the most popular Instagram looks directly from your own DSLR images.

The Insta Inspiration Pack includes 30 presets of the most popular Instagram-inspired looks, including:
- 1977
- Aden
- Amaro
- Brooklyn
- Clarendon
- Crema
- Dogpatch
- Earlybird
- Gingham
- Hefe
- Helena
- Hudson
- Inkwell
- Juno
- Kelvin
- Lark
- Lo-Fi
- Ludwig
- Mayfair
- Moon
- Nashville
- Perpetua
- Rise
- Sierra
- Skyline
- Slumber
- Sutro
- Toaster
- Valencia
- X-Pro II
Luminar is compatible with both RAW and TIFF/JPEG image formats, and you can also use it as a Lightroom plug-in. What I like about it is that unlike most 1-click presets, Luminar shows you all the adjustment tools that went into creating a particular look. That means not only can you modify the presets (Want to change the vignette? No problem!) but you can also save those changes as your own custom presets, too!
Other cool things about Luminar
- Layer support
- Luminosity masking
- Image adjustment and special effects tools
- Add custom textures to images, and make composites
If you’re a Mac user and find Photoshop intimidating, you may want to give Luminar a try.
Jason – which instagram filters are emulated in the Insta Inspiration Pack?
Hi Craig-
There are 30 filters in the pack. I’ve updated the post to include the list, along with a screenshot.

Hello,
I’ve just found the Insta presets – will these work on Luminar 4, or will you be making an update for Luminar 4?
Thanks,
James
Hi James-
I created the looks on behalf of Skylum, and I believe they still work in Luminar 4.
Hello Jason,
Would it be possible to update the preset pack? I just bought it, but noticed some filters don’t work as intended on Luminar 4 (Gingham for example is much less bright than it should be). I also tried it out on Luminar 3, and they work quite amazingly there.
Was hoping to take advantage of the software improvements in Luminar 4, as well as this preset pack though. Thanks!
Bob-
The presets are maintained by Skylum; I’m unfortunately not responsible for updating them.
Hello Jason,
does the Insta Inspiration Look also exist for MS Windows? Where can I find it to buy?
Thx and greetings
Fred
Hi Fred-
It should be compatible with all versions of Luminar and is available from Skylum directly, assuming they still offer it.
