Photo of the Day: Sod House

Sod shed, South Dakota (click to enlarge)

Today’s image is another one of my shots from my South Dakota Badlands photo safari. This sod house (shed) dates to the mid 1800’s, and is an example of life on the prairie frontier. Because the image was captured in mid-day light, the color original is harsh and uninspiring. I converted the image to monochrome using Silver Efex Pro 2.0, where I was able to use various filter effects to darken the sky and make the clouds dramatic. I really liked how the clouds appear to emanate from the sod shed.
